Verdict
Berta Vásquez's mexicano is another point in the argument that her method – tahona milling, cypress fermentation, double distillation, transfers cleanly across agaves. 46% reads fuller than it should because the ferment is concentrated. Not the peak of her catalog (the arroqueño and the horno are), but a solid rendering. ABV can vary by batch; check the label.
Berta Vásquez applies the same method to every agave – and it works every time
Tasting notes
Nose: Green herb, cooked agave, wet stone, wildflower
Palate: Layered, Berta Vásquez's tahona-milled method again producing a bottle that reads denser than the proof suggests. Mexicano's rounder profile sits cleanly
Finish: Mineral, warm – long
The bottom line
Buy in any flight of her work
