Verdict
Aureliano Hernández makes a tobalá that plays smaller than its pedigree, competent, clean, not eloquent. If you've tasted Luis Antonio Santiago's tobalá in the same line, this one hits as the draft. Lalocura's tobalá costs the same and says more. Still a credible wild-agave bottle; just not the Rezpiral lot to hunt.
A tobalá that whispers when most are selling at full volume
Tasting notes
Nose: Green apple skin, then wet limestone, faint jasmine
Palate: Restrained. At 46%, the fruit is there but not amplified; structure outweighs expression
Finish: Medium, dry, minerally clean
The bottom line
Fine. Skip to Berta or Luis Antonio's tobalá in the same catalog
