Verdict
Berta Vásquez's tobalá is the producer's calling card, weightier than Aureliano's reading of the same agave in the same line, and more legible as a place than most tobalás on U.S. shelves. Not quite Real Minero territory, but in the same conversation. If you're learning the Rezpiral catalog, start here or with her ensamble.
Berta Vásquez treats tobalá like a subject, not a showcase
Tasting notes
Nose: Honeyed melon – then jasmine, wet slate, a crack of pepper
Palate: Thicker-textured than most tobalás at 46%; the fruit lands sweet before the mineral cuts in. Character arc, not a one-note
Finish: Cool, pollen-and-stone, long
The bottom line
The Rezpiral tobalá to buy if you're buying one
