Verdict

Jorge Sánchez's tobalá lives in the same register as Mal Bien's single-village tobalás, careful, proof-honest, no flourishes. The 4.3 consensus is defensible; we score it 4.0 only because the competition at this proof tier is crowded (Real Minero, Lalocura, Mal Bien). A credible, recommendable buy.

A tobalá at the exact proof the agave would order for itself

Tasting notes

Nose: Honeysuckle, wet limestone, green tea, faint jasmine

Palate: 48.41% supports tobalá without bullying it; honeyed weight up front, mineral turn at the mid, saline close. Exactly the shape the agave should hold

Finish: Cool, floral-chalky. Long

The bottom line

Solid tobalá if the flagship bottles are out of stock
