Verdict

40% espadín jovens are usually the place where commercial brands hide their cost-cutting; Sacacuento's version is honestly made within that limit. Not going to beat Banhez or Del Maguey Vida in a blind pour, but not embarrassed to stand next to them. 4.0 is a half-step high; we score it 3.5.

A 40% joven that doesn't taste like it's apologizing

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave, gentle smoke, green apple, a citrus lift

Palate: 40% is the commercial floor, but Sacacuento's joven is cleanly made and less confected than the category average – agave legible, smoke managed

Finish: Clean, faintly smoky – medium

The bottom line

Solid backup bottle if Banhez is out of stock
