Verdict
Most añejos at this price are wood-flavored espadín; Salvadores holds proof high enough to let the agave survive. Sits in conversation with Del Maguey San Pedro Taviche's aged expressions and above the commercial añejo tier. Consensus 4.0 is a half-step generous; we come in at 3.5.
An añejo where the agave stays in the frame
Tasting notes
Nose: Dark caramel, dried fig, clove, cooked agave under the barrel
Palate: 42% is above the aged-mezcal default and the barrel comes through as accent rather than disguise. Flavio Pérez Méndez's espadín survives the wood
Finish: Warm, spice-forward – long
The bottom line
A buy if aged mezcal is your register
