Señorío Añejo

An añejo in name only

Score: 1.5/5 agaves

Señorío Añejo bottle
  • Producer: Señorío Mezcal
  • Region: Tlacolula, Oaxaca
  • Agave: Espadin
  • ABV: 40%
  • Price: $64 ($)

Verdict

Señorío's añejo is the kind of aged mezcal that exists to fill a category slot at a price point, not to carry a producer's voice. The agave is functionally absent. Consensus 1.5 is calibrated.

A bottle designed for an aisle, not a palate

Tasting notes

Nose: Heavy vanilla, confected wood, a faint mezcal shadow

Palate: 40% and barrel-first: the agave is a rumor. Reads like a bargain-shelf whiskey with a mezcal sticker

Finish: Sweet, evaporative. Short

The bottom line

Skip. Anything else at the same price is better
