Verdict
Sentir's copper-distilled espadín is the one you pour when you've already drunk the good stuff. At 41% there isn't enough structure to carry the agave's sweetness past the mid-palate, and Matatlán produces a thousand bottles like this. Skip it and pay the extra few dollars for the Olla de Barro from the same house.
41% Matatlán espadín is a price sheet, not a spirit
Tasting notes
Nose: Light smoke, vanilla, nothing to argue with
Palate: Thin, sweet, cooperatively smooth – 41% is the proof of a bottle designed to be non-threatening, and the palate matches the promise
Finish: Slightly sugary, gone, short
The bottom line
The weaker sibling in a two-bottle house. Buy the barro
