Verdict
When Jorge and Miguel Pérez collaborate under the family label, the result is more democratic than either of their solo bottles. It's a legitimate Michoacán Alto at honest proof, but the strongest expression in this range is Jorge's solo bottle – committed, sharper, less diplomatic. Buy the Familia first if you're meeting the Pérez family for the first time; buy Jorge's if you already know what to expect.
A family portrait where the likeness isn't quite any of them
Tasting notes
Nose: Green apple, fresh hay, wet stone
Palate: 48% carries a bright, citric mid-palate with the Alto's mineral backbone intact – less weighty than single-mezcalero bottles from the same family, more consensus-shaped
Finish: Iron-tinged, faintly herbal
The bottom line
The gentle introduction. Climb to the Jorge Pérez bottle
