Verdict
Miguel Pérez inherited his father's palenque and most of his father's discipline – but Miguel pushes where Jorge polishes. This Alto has a funk-forward edge the older bottles don't, and a citrus top note that announces itself louder. It's the less composed pour, which is also what makes it interesting. Buy both and learn the difference between generations.
Miguel's bottle is Jorge's bottle with more risk and less finish
Tasting notes
Nose: Fresh lemon. Then lime zest, honey, medium smoke with a chocolate undertone
Palate: 45-50% range gives Miguel room to push – big lemongrass, a queasy agave funk that reads as personality not flaw, honey and dark chocolate threaded through the smoke
Finish: Smoky, with a chocolate aftertaste. Long
The bottom line
The next-generation bottle. Track it alongside Jorge's
