A fair tobalá from a widely-distributed house
Score: 3.5/5 agaves

- Maestro: Eleuterío Ogarrio
- Region: Sola de Vega, Oaxaca
- Agave: Tobala
- ABV: 50%

Verdict
50% is appropriate – a lot of mid-tier tobalás bottle lower and lose the agave. Siete Misterios' tobalá is a credible middle-of-the-wild-agave bottle: no pretense, reasonable price, authentic Sola de Vega production, and the proof is picked to serve the agave rather than the distribution curve. The community agrees. A legitimate step up from Doba-Yej without reaching into the premium tier.
A tobalá from a brand that doesn't make tobalá feel like a gimmick
Tasting notes
Nose: Wildflower, then sweet smoke, pear, mineral
Palate: Clean and aromatic, mid-weight – the Sola de Vega production does right by the agave
Finish: Floral, drying. Long
The bottom line
A solid tobalá in the mid-tier
