Verdict
Isidro Rodríguez Montoya works with Bruto in a way most producers reserve for tobalá – careful extraction, a light hand at the still, Filipino-tradition distillation that lets the agave's floral signature stay on top. The result sits between a Chino and a Cupreata in complexity without costing what either does at Sin Gusano tier.
Bruto is the agave Michoacán forgot to market. This bottle remembers
Tasting notes
Nose: White flowers, then green pepper, wet stone
Palate: 49.2% holds a floral, light-bodied spirit aloft – bright citrus, mineral depth, the pepper-and-herb signature of Rio de Parras ground under it
Finish: Floral, chalky – long
The bottom line
The floral Michoacán bottle to track down
