Verdict

Cuishe is the karwinskii for drinkers who want minerality without the sweetness creeping back, and the mineral-rich Amatlán soil suits it. Nicolás García Gutiérrez keeps it dry and vertical, no rounding off the edges. Buy it next to a Vago cuixe and the village differences come forward; this is the leaner, stonier read of the two.

Karwinskii as a straight mineral line

Tasting notes

Nose: Wet stone, celery, green herb, a saline mineral note, faint citrus

Palate: Dry and vertical at 48.2%. Cuishe's karwinskii minerality runs straight through, green and saline, the Amatlán soil showing as chalk

Finish: Long, mineral, dry

The bottom line

Buy it for the karwinskii shelf
