Verdict
Espadín is rarely the bottle to reach for in Rafa García's catalog, the arroqueño and mexicano are the weight-class bottles, but his espadín earns its shelf space by arriving in the same clay-and-50% architecture as the wilder agaves. It's not a reference espadín at the Cuish or Mal Bien level, but at Tepanal's pricing it's a credible daily-sipper.
Espadín that announces the house it comes from
Tasting notes
Nose: Green apple, then wet clay, mineral smoke
Palate: 50% and barro distillation lift espadín out of its usual joven register, oilier texture, sharper fruit, the clay signature visible through the agave
Finish: Long, limestone, clean
The bottom line
The sensible daily Tepanal. Climb for the wild-agave bottles
