At 40% and without a maestro credited on the label, Tres Papalote's espadín is doing everything a commodity bottle does – hitting a price, hitting a proof floor, making no argument for the liquid inside. Vida is cheaper and more honest; Banhez costs less and actually has something to say.

Tasting notes

Nose: Cooked agave, faint smoke, a sugary top note

Palate: Thin, sweet, flat at 40%, with whatever the distillery wanted to say drowned by the commercial proof floor

Finish: Sugary, gone. Stays short
