Verdict

Emigdio Jarquín is the maestro whose work anchors the most consistent corner of the Vago catalog, and the arroqueño is a fair argument for why. The 50.7% proof lets the agave's density carry without tipping into heat, and the Miahuatlán fingerprint is in the glass. Tosba's arroqueño is priced lower and runs a touch more refined, but both belong on a short list.

Jarquín's hand is the house signature at Vago

Tasting notes

Nose: Dark chocolate, leather, dried plum, tobacco

Palate: Dense and savory at 50.7%, with arroqueño's characteristic bass note intact and the Miahuatlán mineral pull holding the structure

Finish: Warming, iron-tinged, very long

The bottom line

A working arroqueño from one of Vago's most reliable benches
