Verdict

Tío Rey's ensamble is ambitious and the clay-pot distillation gives it the texture to carry the ambition. Whether the blend coheres depends on batch and taste; we find this one more interesting than singular. The community agrees.

Seven agaves is either a vision or an argument

Tasting notes

Nose: A deep chord, green herb, sweet smoke, dark honey, wet stone

Palate: Textured, layered, occasionally busy, seven agaves asking for seven different things at once

Finish: Warm, drying. Long

The bottom line

A producer statement. Worth drinking at least once
