Verdict

The Hijos de Aquilino – Mateo and Temo Garcia – are taking their father's work forward, and the mexicano is the most telling comparison bottle. The house fingerprint is there, the Candelaria Yegole terroir is there, the proof lands to the plant, and the hand is developing. Not yet at the level of Aquilino's own bottlings but the continuation is legible.

Tasting notes

Nose: Wildflower, cooked agave, wet stone, a hint of smoke

Palate: Aromatic and mineral at ~50%, with the family style recognizable but a touch less concentrated than their father's bottlings

Finish: Floral, stone. Long

The bottom line

Track it. The next-generation Candelaria Yegole bench
