Verdict

Reposado mezcal is already a category most serious drinkers avoid, and at 38% the Ven A Mi reposado sits below even the commodity tier's proof floor. The wood dominates, the agave disappears, and the liquid reads closer to a sweetened agave spirit than a mezcal. Skip for any of the house's joven at proof or, better, leave reposado mezcal on the shelf entirely.

Tasting notes

Nose: Wood, then vanilla, faint agave, a sugary top note

Palate: With the wood notes dominating whatever agave character the base distillate had; thin and woody at 38%

Finish: Warm, gone. Short

The bottom line

Skip. Reposado mezcal at 38% is the category disappearing
