Verdict
Madrecuishe at 42% shows you the silhouette and withholds the shape. The agave wants 48% minimum; Wahaka knows it, and chose the commercial answer anyway. Nothing wrong with the producer's hand, everything wrong with where the hand was asked to stop. Vago or Mezcalosfera madrecuishe is the grown-up version of this bottle.
Madrecuishe needs 48% minimum
Tasting notes
Nose: Dark honey, then hot slate, faint herb
Palate: Thinner than madrecuishe should be, the agave's density asks for higher proof than Wahaka commits to
Finish: Warm, mineral. Medium
The bottom line
Buy a higher-proof madrecuishe – Vago or Mezcalosfera both outperform
