Wild Shot Silver

Competent, commercial, and short on anything to remember

Score: 2.5/5 agaves

Verdict

Wild Shot Silver is a professionally-made entry espadín that does nothing to distinguish itself from the dozen other celebrity-backed mezcals crowding the category. Consensus 3.3 feels generous, it drinks fine, it just doesn't drink like anything. If you're buying a $40 mezcal for a margarita, Vida still does the job better for less.

The brand is louder than the liquid

Tasting notes

Nose: Light cooked agave, then faint smoke, green banana

Palate: Clean and smooth. At 43.4%, with a polished middle that tastes like a brand manager signed off on it. Neutral in a way that's engineered, not earned

Finish: Sweet, gone – short

The bottom line

A skip. Vida is honester at half the marketing budget
