Verdict
Yaya Yahui's four-agave ensamble is the bottle that defends the category's more ambitious blending. Arroqueño gets the bass line, mexicano brings the herbal lift, tobalá adds the floral note, espadín holds the structure. It drinks closer to Rey Campero territory than the price suggests. If it's on the shelf, take it if you see it.
Ensamble is an argument, and this bottle makes it convincingly
Tasting notes
Nose: Dark honey, dried herbs, roasted nut, plum skin, a savory undertow
Palate: Dense and layered, the arroqueño carrying the weight while mexicano, tobalá and espadín take turns filling in. Long, three-dimensional middle
Finish: Long, warm, faintly meaty
The bottom line
A serious ensamble at a serious value. Stock up
