Verdict
Yola is a women-owned brand with a clean backstory and a competent bottle; the liquid doesn't quite match the narrative but it holds its own. The madrecuishe adds a dry karwinskii edge that keeps the espadín from going soft. Consensus 3.7 is right – buy it for Yola Jáuregui's project, drink it because it's good enough to recommend.
Mission-forward mezcal that also makes sense in the glass
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked agave, honeysuckle, light smoke, a trace of green pepper
Palate: The espadín-madrecuishe blend offering a gentle structural interplay – sweet framed by dry. Clean work; medium-bodied at 45%
Finish: Dry, warm – medium
The bottom line
Worth supporting. Also worth drinking
