Verdict
Yotobi's pineapple iteration is pleasant enough as a cocktail base but disappears as a spirit. The format, fruit-infused abocado mezcal – can work when the base is at 45%+ and the fruit is used as seasoning; here it's the other way around. Pass in favor of a neat joven and a fresh pineapple wedge in the glass.
When fruit leads, the agave follows
Tasting notes
Nose: Cooked pineapple, candied top-note, faint smoke
Palate: Fruit-forward and sweet. At 42%, with pineapple riding over the base spirit rather than meeting it. Drinkable, not memorable
Finish: Sugary, clean, short
The bottom line
A pass. The fruit is doing what the distillery should
