Verdict
Mexicanito is an agave most drinkers have never seen, and Félix Macedas's expression is a compelling argument for why that should change. At 48% the piña's natural sweetness is balanced by a mineral austerity that keeps the bottle from going ornate. Hunt it alongside the candelillo and jabalí to see what this palenque is doing across the range.
Small agave, big intention
Tasting notes
Nose: Sweet cooked agave, candied citrus peel, wildflower, cool mineral
Palate: Lifted and bright, mexicanito's smaller-piña character reading as concentrated sweetness wrapped around a chalky core. Elegant rather than forceful
Finish: Floral, dry. Long
The bottom line
Chase it down. Yuku Savi across the range is the story
