Verdict
Yuu Baal's reposado is among the more honest cask-rested mezcals on the shelf – the oak contact is light enough that the espadín still shows its shape. Consensus 4.1 is a shade high; we'd land at 3.5. Reach for it over Wild Shot Reposado or any Zignum bottle if you want a gentle wooded mezcal with the producer still audible.
Reposado mezcal usually subtracts. This one adds quietly
Tasting notes
Nose: Honey – then light oak, cooked agave, a faint vanillin
Palate: The rest mellowing the edges without flattening the agave. Mid-weight, approachable, not over-wooded; rounded and warm at 45%
Finish: Gentle, lightly oaky. Medium
The bottom line
The best of the Yuu Baal wooded set
