Verdict

Zancudo Botánico is a thoughtfully-constructed infused mezcal – more sincere than Yotobi's flavored range, but the sum is a hybrid rather than a clarified spirit. The base espadín is decent; the additions pull the bottle into cocktail-modifier territory. Useful behind a serious bar; less interesting neat.

Infused mezcal drifts toward the amaro side of the bar

Tasting notes

Nose: Herbal tea, bitter citrus, cooked agave, eucalyptus

Palate: Medium-weight. At 43%, the botanical program layered over a competent espadín. Pleasant, polished, closer to a flavored liqueur in register

Finish: Herbal, slightly bitter. Medium

The bottom line

An amaro-adjacent mezcal. Keep it for cocktails
