Verdict
Mitre's entry espadín is another Matatlán bottle sized for a bar well at 40% – Don Tacho's name adds a little reassurance, but not enough to make the liquid distinct from a dozen neighbors. Four reviewers at 2.8 is honest. Don Tacho deserves a better showcase than this brief.
At 40% ABV every Matatlán espadín starts to sound the same
Tasting notes
Nose: Generic smoke, cooked agave, vanilla, green apple
Palate: 40% Matatlán espadín, competent, sweet, proof-capped. The producer signature is visible only in faint outline
Finish: Short-medium, sweet, clean
The bottom line
Skip. Banhez or Dixeebe cost the same and actually proof up
