Madrecuishe Mezcal

Madrecuishe (Agave karwinskii – also written madrecuixe by some producers) is the karwinskii-family member most associated with the highland-Miahuatlán palenques that built the wild-agave conversation in the early 2010s. The agave matures in 20+ years, runs herbal-and-mineral with a savory undertone, and sits closer to tobalá in pricing than to espadín. Most madrecuishes are bottled solo or in karwinskii ensambles; very few are blended outside the family. The agave demands proof – 47%+ – to carry its complexity.
