Mezcal from Miahuatlán, Oaxaca

Miahuatlán is mezcal's wild-agave capital – home to Mezcalosfera, NETA, much of El Jolgorio's tepeztate production, and the hillsides where commercial tobalá and madrecuishe production became serious in the 2010s. The region's elevation, soils, and the deep technical pools of the Hernández, García, and Velasco families have made Miahuatlán the village where the high-end conversation happens. Miahuatlán bottles run higher in proof and price than Matatlán bottles by a clear margin. The high end represents most of our 4.5 and 5.0 catalog entries.
